Our story

Treating Hackney’s pets and people better

Hello, My name is Oli.
I'm a veterinary surgeon and one of the founders of Hello Vet. I grew up on the floor of my father's veterinary clinic and immediately fell in love with helping animals and the people who care for them.

It's the best job in the world, although, over the last 15 years, I feel vet clinics have lost the close, personal connections that used to underpin the relationship between vets, clients and their pets.

We created Hello Vet to address this issue and transform how veterinary care works in the UK. We've built clinics where I'd be happy for my own children to work and my own pets to receive care. In a world where over 60% of vet clinics are now owned by large corporate groups, we want to offer an alternative. Our London vet clinics are designed to be stress-free, open environments where owners can stay with their pets and become a central part of their healthcare team.

Dr Christian LeVan

Dr Christian LeVan graduated from Edinburgh Vet School in 1999 and has spent his entire career as a veterinary general practitioner working with all species in Somerset before moving back to London in 2006 to focus on dogs and cats.

Christian's interests include geriatric medicine, dentistry and oral surgery, effective communication with clients, and using a whole team approach to deliver excellent clinical care. Outside of work Christian enjoys cycling, swimming, climbing and skiing when he has time. He lives in NW London with his wife, son and several cats.

Dr Oli Viner

Veterinary Surgeon
Dr Oli Viner graduated from the Royal Veterinary College London in 2007 and was a partner at a group of veterinary clinics in London until 2017. Alongside his passion for veterinary medicine, he has always had an interest in technology, tirelessly looking for ways to implement digital workflow efficiencies.

In 2015, he founded VetBooker, an online booking system and client portal that later merged with VetHelpDirect, providing the foundation for Digital Practice- a leading communications platform for vets. Oli's father was one of the original Blue Peter vets, and with a daughter who is keen to become a third generation vet, he is passionate about changing the profession for the better. Oli shares four children with his wife Lara, also a vet, alongside three cats, one labrador, two rats and a tortoise.

Vet Care designed for real life

Animal Health Certificate

Travelling with your pet is great, but planning well in advance is essential to ensure the trip is stress free for you and your pet! Please note that when Hello Vet does this work we are acting as representatives of the government. We do not have any flexibility in the rules. For dogs and cats travelling to most European countries, you will need an animal health certificate issued by an Official Veterinarian (OV). Our practice has several OVs available to assist you with this.

Stay with your pet

You are the best comfort for your pet, which is why Hello Vet is the first clinic in the UK designed to keep you and your pet together even when they need a procedure. You will be present when we prepare them for anaesthesia, allowing you to reassure them as they fall asleep, and be there with them as soon as they wake up.

Insurance

At our veterinary practice, we understand the importance of being prepared for unexpected medical expenses. It can offer peace of mind by covering costly treatments for accidents or illnesses, and some plans even help with routine care like vaccinations. However, it's important to be aware that most policies have exclusions, especially for pre-existing conditions, and often require upfront payments before reimbursing you. While insurance can be a great option, we recommend reviewing the details carefully to ensure it fits your needs and your pet’s health.

Out of hours care

We are open until 8pm on weekdays and until 12:30pm weekends for routine consultations and emergency care. When we are closed, we partner with an out-of-hours provider to ensure your pet has access to veterinary care 24 hours a day. This means that if you call us outside of our opening hours, our phone lines will automatically redirect you to Veteris, our out-of-hours provider located in Shoreditch.

Your puppy

No puppy is the same, and no client needs exactly the same support. We've designed our approach to reflect that. For every puppy, we provide a full course of vaccinations, microchipping and recommend that your puppy comes in for monthly treats and weigh-ins - providing good early experiences with vets delivers a heap of long term health benefits.
